Ryan M. Spaeder is a 2011 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Economics – focusing in statistics and advanced econometrics – and a module in Health Care Economics. In 2023, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Project Management from Georgetown University.
Ryan is a “retired” Senior Hedge Fund Account Manager and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He is currently working a Technical Project Manager and Business Systems Analyst, contracted to the Department of Defense.
Ryan’s work in baseball has been credited by some of Major League Baseball’s most renowned journalists, broadcasters, teams, and players. He has contributed to outlets such as NBC Sports and The Sporting News, and he has also covered the Buffalo Bills for The Buffalo News – all of which can be found under the “Past Contributions” tab.
Ryan was the co-host of “The Best Baseball Podcast” and “The Walk-Off,” a nationally syndicated podcast by Blue Wire Media, with 22-year radio veteran Holden Kushner. He has co-authored the first and second editions of “Incredible Baseball Stats: The Coolest, Strangest Stats and Facts in Baseball History” with Kevin Reavy, forewords by National Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs and 2017 World Series Champion Lance McCullers Jr.
Ryan has been featured on various radio, podcast, and television programs throughout the country with hundreds of guest appearances – most notably with High Heat and MLB Now at MLB Network.
Ryan serves as an Ambassador for the Semper Fi Fund and conducts an annual fundraiser – providing MLB teams, players, and fans with an opportunity to go to bat for our Nation’s Heroes – raising much needed aid for wounded, injured, and otherwise ill Veterans of all branches of the United States Armed Forces. Some of Ryan’s other projects and endeavors include the annual Ballplayer Ballot, petitioning former big league ballplayers as to who they believe should be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Project 186 Parlay, for which he bets on all 2,430 baseball games in a season, now in its second year, collecting new and used equipment for young baseball pioneers in Western Africa, and, of course, anything else that you can find here at theaceofspaeder.com.
